Sumatra Copper & Gold plc is both managed and staffed by people who have previously worked predominantly with major mining houses including Newmont, Newcrest, Rio Tinto and Anglo American. This experience extends from exploration through to production. The company’s Board also has depth and breadth to its experience, and includes fiscal conservatives with a banking background. The company’s largest shareholder is Macquarie Bank of Australia.

These strengths partly explain why the company has enjoyed considerable success even though it has been operating for less than three years. However four projects, and a large land-holding, is a lot to manage and particularly as the company needs to focus on ensuring Tembang is successfully advanced to production. The company has therefore recently elected to attract partners, and expressions of interest should be emailed to info@sumatra-copper-gold.com

Welcome to Sumatra Copper & Gold

Established to discover and develop gold-silver and copper-gold mineral deposits on the Indonesian island of Sumatra

Sumatra Copper and Gold plc (SCG) is incorporated in the United Kingdom and is currently privately-held. The company plans to go public when the timing is appropriate. SCG has a short-term focus on re-opening several abandoned gold-silver mines; longer-term the company expects substantial growth to come from the discovery and development of copper-gold porphyry-related systems.  SCG has an economic interest of up to 90% in four projects on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, one of which could be in production in 2011. The company’s assets include 2.3 million gold equivalent ounces of JORC-compliant resources, and more than 4 million gold equivalent additional ounces are of target potential.

SCG and its Indonesian Partner have obtained the rights to explore ground known to be geochemically-anomalous, and covering in excess of 6,000 Km² including more than four abandoned mines some of which have not been worked since World War II.
